As Ontario’s population ages, housing providers play an increasingly critical role in enabling seniors to age at home with dignity, stability, and a strong sense of community. This session will showcase how the Toronto Seniors Housing Corporation (TSHC), in collaboration with sector leaders such as ONPHA and AdvantAge Ontario, is driving innovative, integrated approaches to meet this growing need.
This session will draw on global best practices analyzed by ONPHA, as well as the real-world experiences of TSHC and the organizations represented by AdvantAge Ontario who are supporting seniors to age in place across the City and the Province.
Join us to explore:
- The discussion will explore innovative approaches and solutions aimed at extending independent living and improving quality of life like neighbourhood-based care programming, opportunities for peer-led supports, intergenerational innovations, and adaptive technologies, among others.
- What role housing providers can and should play in enabling their tenants to thrive, and partners to support those efforts. TSHC is working right now on this very consideration with the implementation of the Integrated Service Model that brings together staffing, policy, and health supports to form a comprehensive, tenant-centered framework for aging in place.
- The successes, challenges and learnings on this journey to support 15,000 seniors with their needs and wants as they age in place.
This interactive session invites attendees to share their own experiences, ask questions, and engage in a forward-looking dialogue on how we can strengthen aging in place strategies across the sector.
