Step outside and see Toronto’s housing plans taking shape along the waterfront. Join advocates from HousingNowTO and students from the University of Toronto’s School of Cities for a guided tour of new and proposed affordable housing developments across Queens Quay East, East Bayfront and Quayside. 

HousingNowTO is a pro-bono professional services collective that uses data, planning and architectural best practices to advocate for maximizing opportunities to create new affordable housing on surplus City-owned land. 

Along the way, explore: 

• The 65,000-home goal: How Toronto arrived at its target for new affordable and supportive housing by 2030. 
• What “affordable” means: How the City defines affordable housing and what that means for the households it aims to serve. 
• Progress and potential: What has been built, what’s underway and what’s planned for the waterfront. 

The tour will visit Toronto Star Lands, Sugar Wharf, East Bayfront and Quayside, with a mix of new and proposed developments along the route. 

The walk is approximately 5 km and includes return TTC travel between the Sheraton Centre Toronto Hotel and Queens Quay & Bay Street.
