Deb Galet

President & CEO, Baycrest Hospital and Long Term Care

Deb Galet is the President and CEO of Baycrest Hospital and Long Term Care Home.

Deb is a lifelong learner with a passion for innovative initiatives in healthcare and aging. She began her career as an occupational therapist across various clinical environments, including acute care, geriatric rehabilitation, complex continuing care, research and community care.

Throughout her career, Deb has continued to gain extensive experience in leading healthcare teams to achieve excellence at both the regional and provincial levels and currently sits on the Cancer Quality Advisory Council of Ontario (CQCA), the Ontario Dementia Care Alliance and is the co-chair of the Toronto Dementia Research Alliance Clinical Table.

Deb is particularly interested in continuous quality improvement and building new models of care to improve access and resource utilization for the geriatric population. In 2020, Deb was the co-creator of Baycrest’s Virtual Behavioural Medicine program (VBM) to help individuals living with dementia promptly access highly specialized care while remaining in their home.

Since joining Baycrest in 2015 Deb has progressively added elements to the role, which included the supervision of Hospital Quality and Transformation, Culture Arts and Heritage, and Behaviour Support Services, and serving as Chief Heritage Officer.
