Melanie Johnston is an Energy Programs Director at EnviroCentre, with over 25 years of experience in the field. She has been a leading player in some of the region’s most well-known and impactful home energy efficiency initiatives, including the Enbridge Gas Home Winterproofing Program, the Hydro Ottawa Home Assistance Program, and the development and delivery of EnerGuide Home Energy Assessment services.

Today, Melanie leads an EnviroCentre team that delivers eight home energy efficiency and retrofit projects, with a strong focus on social housing retrofits and energy equity. She brings to the initiatives she oversees over (12+) years of experience leading energy efficiency programs, including a major retrofit project for 900 Ottawa Community Housing Corporation units, and most recently Ottawa’s first deep mass retrofit in social housing. Melanie ensures that EnviroCentre projects help housing providers find innovative energy efficiency solutions that improve their buildings, communities, and the lives of residents.
